Rose and Moe
Lee
Great opening! Loved it all.
Dancers
Great job. Need more people noises.
Robertson
DICTION – Germany
At times you sound British
After dancers, stop and say your lines.
Be in the back scenes when you are not in the front. Pay attention to the weather.
Put bench out for the Quinn and Robertson scene.
Red white and blue. Stop and say lines.
They also believed – to audience.
During Lee’s speech on Mississippi, hat off and coat off in back.
Grandpa
Hat off in the house.
Rosman and Irene
Good job giving Banks money.
Women
Late reaction to Moe’s entrance
Rose and Moe
Great job in last scene.
Quinn
Be sure you are dancing in the light. SMILE. Rehearse dancing, so that it seems second nature.
As Frank, move the phonograph and stand back and walk in front of it in your first entrance
DIana
Good entrance in bar scene.
Quinn & Robertson
SLOW DOWN. Love the rapport between you two and the reactions.
Doris
Seem more involved in the string game.
Be more offended when you ask – who do you want to take out.
Startled by Sidney when he first approaches you.
Fanny
Have the bill pin thing, with the bills crooked. Come out as soon as you change so that we have more people in the background. Thanks for giving 100% even though you were sick.
Lee
Watch your hat. It shadows your face. Remember to be already hat before you take off shirt.
EVERYONE
Smile while dancing.
Do not cross in front of people who are speaking – particularly Quinn in first scene.
People in back have a purpose and MOVE IN SLOW MOTION.
Use a chair for Diana so that she can fall into it.
Everyone needs stage business.
Black gloves only
REACT TO IRENE”S lines
During transitions, we need some to walk downstage, and it cannot be Irene each time.
Slow motion in back – during Moe and Lee’s line about money – freeze
There is one time when Irene is in the back by herself. This should not happen. I will come after you if you are not back there. Ty and one other guy were USR. I would like everyone in back during the women’s scene (except for women and Grandpa) so that in last scene, you have your back to the audience and turn around slowly and after Moe and Rose’s last scene, you start forward on Americans.
Needs
Big clock on 8’ pylon in Moe’s house.
Moe
Use cane to emphasize joke. I can’t remember your first joke, but the second – Now that hit cane once is serious hit twice.
Bar men
Give Diana a dollar
Rose
The second time around was your best.
Banks
Can you stand up and talk and mime asking people for money?
LOVED the way your back was to the audience prior to welfare scene.
Miss Fowler
Put chair out for Miss Graham.
Edie
Lines out to audience. Use upstage hand for gestures.
Do something – work on it.
Use lower register.
Women’s scene
Freeze was great second time.
Sidney
If you have time, go to Banks and put money in hat.
Clipboard for composing music.
Marathon dancers
Dance closer to the scrim.
Should I stand before or after the music plays in the transition to banks?
