Thursday's Rehearsal - January 5

The first rehearsal went great!  THIS IS IMPORTANT! Work on ACCENTS!  You may think you are doing it, but it has to be perfect!  Go to You Tube to Speak with a New York accent - by expertvillage. It has 63017 hits.  Listen to the "aw" sound video, the R sound video and the ING.

Carson and Lawrence, listen to videojug.  The man is British and he has two videos - one with a Russian for Carson and one with a Scottish accent for Lawrence.

Most of you did not have strong r's with words like very;  you did not cut off words with ing; and did not say words like our with the aw sound.  I will be tough on you until you get it.
Carson, with the Polish accent and you can do a combination of Russian/Polish -th sounds at the beginning of words sound like d's. Instead of these - say dese. Instead of those - say dose. Words with th at the end will sound like a sharp t - bath will sound like bat; beneath would sound like bahneet.  Accent the wrong syllable - goINK instead of going. Leave out articles.  Instead of saying That is a cake, you would say Dat is cake.  Go through your lines and make those changes.
A TEST GRADE ON MARKED SCRIPTS - ALYSSA WILL LOOK AT THEM AT THE BEGINNING OF REHEARSAL ON SUNDAY AT 2PM.  Mark all words like very, acting, every, etc.
Please do not be timid - ask for help. Some of the best accent people are Allison, Molly, Blake, Hayden.  You have to be confident and go for it. COMMIT!
Moe, Robertson, Edie, & Dr. Rosman- you start off with an accent and lose it.
Fanny - You drift in and out.
Robertson - watch these words - thousands, absolutely, Germany, Corporate History.
Quinn- focus
Lee - you are going in and out NY and Italian
Moe - Nervousness
DORIS - WORK!
Rose - for the most part, you are doing a great job.
I will start cutting scenes starting next Sunday.  Some I don't want to cut, but it is necessary.
Sidney - LOVE your character and  you kept the accent consistent.
Irene - Use your voice from last year, but with a Brooklyn accent and be MEAN!  You are also a little older.
Grandpa - WE GOTTA HAVE NY.
All characters must be different from each other.  If you play more than one - be distinctly different!
Love you guys!  It's going to be a great year!
Thank you Isaac, Kayla, and Allison for the extra research.

  2. When am I nervous? In the welfare office?

  3. Moe,
In the scene where Rose has to pawn the bracelet, you are still brazen - just not as much. You probably begin being uncertain, anxious when you have to borrow money from your son.
